Insulated summer houses, for year-round use

An insulated summer house gives you a beautiful timber garden building you can use comfortably all year round, not just in summer. Fully insulated in the walls, floor and roof, with the option of electrics and heating so the space stays warm whatever the season.

What is an insulated summer house?

An insulated summer house is a timber garden building with insulation built into the walls, floor and roof, usually paired with double glazing and the option of electrics and heating. That insulation is the difference between a building you can only really enjoy in spring and summer, and one that stays comfortable through autumn and winter too — it turns a seasonal retreat into a usable room you get the benefit from every month of the year.

Why choose an insulated summer house?

The whole point is year-round use. A standard summer house is lovely in warm weather but cold once the temperature drops. An insulated summer house holds its warmth, so it works as a home office in January, a gym in any season, or simply a comfortable space to sit whatever's happening outside.

Every one is made to order and installed by our own team, from quality treated timber, in the classic summer house style you'll find across our standard summer houses range.

FAQs

Before you get in touch

How is an insulated summer house different to a garden room?

They're very similar — both are fully insulated for year-round use. An insulated summer house keeps the classic summer house look and roofline, where a garden room tends to be a more contemporary, flat-roofed design.

Do I need planning permission?

Most single-storey buildings fall under permitted development, depending on size, height and boundary distance. We check this at your free site survey.

Can it have electrics and heating?

Yes — we can wire in power, lighting and heating so the space stays warm through autumn and winter, not just summer.

How much does an insulated summer house cost?

From £3,795, depending on size, layout and finish. You'll get a precise quote after a free survey.

Is my building guaranteed?

Yes — our standard garden buildings come with a one-year structural guarantee. Insulated garden rooms, with aluminium windows, cedar cladding and a rubber roof, carry a different guarantee; we'll confirm exactly what applies to your build at quote stage.

Can the building go straight onto grass?

No — installing directly onto grass or soil isn't something we recommend or offer. It significantly shortens the building's lifespan and increases the risk of panels shifting or misaligning over time. A proper base makes all the difference.

What are your payment terms?

We ask for a 50% deposit when you place your order, with the balance due a week before delivery or collection.
